What CBD oil Strength Should I Use?

As a beginner it may be confusing to decide which CBD oil strength to choose to achieve a desired effect. Many times when people try CBD they choose such a small dose that they do not feel any impact. While this doesn't mean everyone should start of with a high-potency CBD oil, it does mean to thoroughly understand all of the important things that go into a successful CBD regime. For new users it is important to note that it may take some time, a few weeks, to start to feel the benefits of CBD and settle on your individual CBD oil dosage.

Amount of CBD

Before deciding between different strengths of you should take, you must first know the milligrams of CBD, or concentration of CBD that is in a bottle. Most CBD oil is packaged in a 30ml bottle size, and will contain 30 1ml full dropper servings. However, some bottles will only be 15ml or may be bigger at 60ml. The mg of CBD in the bottle should be clearly marked on the packaging. Additionally, the amount of CBD per dropper should be outlined in the supplemental facts, or nutritional panel on the bottle. For example, if you see a 30ml bottle that has 500mg of CBD, each serving will have approximately 16mg of CBD.

Factors Influencing Ideal CBD strength

  1. Height, Weight, Metabolism, and Sensitivity- A persons body weight will play a strong part in determining if someone requires a high strength product, or a lower mg dose. Hight and weight are pretty easy to determine, a 200 pound person will almost always require a larger dose than a 125 pound person. However, metabolism will effect how fast a CBD extract is absorbed and remains in the bottle. A faster metabolism may require a person to use a higher strength of a CBD oil. Sensitivity is much harder to determine, just like some people can drink a large coffee at bedtime, and others need to switch to decaf before noon.
  2. Method of CBD oil use- The best way for CBD oil to be used is sublingually, meaning placed under the tongue. For best results, you should hold the oil under your tongue for at least one minute before swallowing.
  3. Consistency- We advise all of our new CBD users to start off taking their CBD oil at the same time or times everyday. It is a good idea track your daily CBD dosage as well as the health benefits you are feeling. By tracking your usage you can better understand how much CBD oil is creating the desired results, so that you are not taking too much, and in essence waisting money.

CBD Concentration options

Most high quality CBD companies will offer a range of CBD strengths. Here at Palm Organix we offer three different strengths:

  1. Low Dose- Our lowest strength tincture is our 500mg bottle. This bottle will equal approximately 16mg of CBD per serving
  2. Medium Dose- Our medium strength option is our 1000mg bottle. This bottle will equal approximately 33mg of CBD per serving
  3. High Doses- Our high strength option is our 1500mg bottle. This bottle will equal approximately 50mg of CBD per serving

Palm Organix offers these three strengths in two delicious flavors, Orange and Mint, and can be found on our tincture category page.

Other important Factors when choosing a CBD strength

  1. Quality of the CBD oil brand- For all CBD products it is important to choose a high quality brand. To determine quality look into where and how the hemp extract is grown and processed. Also look for the products third party lab tests. These lab results will verify purity and potency (some lower quality brands may advertise a 500mg bottle that really only contains 100mg) The lab tests will also ensure there are no heavy metals, chemicals, or pesticides.
  2. Customer Service- Make sure to choose a brand where you can reach out by phone and email if you have any questions. A reputable brand will stand behind their CBD oil products and offer a money back guarantee.
  3. Type of CBD- There are three types of CBD that are legally available on the market today. 1. Full Spectrum, which has a full cannabinoid profile but will contain trace amounts of THC, and may cause a failed drug test. 2. Broad Spectrum, which is the same as full spectrum except all of the THC is removed. 3. Isolate- which is only the CBD cannabinoid, and not other, and will not produce an entourage effect.
  4. Taste of the CBD oil- Hemp Extract oil often has an earthy taste which is not always palatable to everyone. This is why most CBD oils are flavored. The other impact of taste is the carrier oil. All CBD tinctures will have a carrier oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil or hemp seed oil. These carrier oils can give the tincture either a greasy heavy taste, or a light refreshing taste.
  5. Price- Price is an important factor when looking to budget for a monthly CBD purchase. However, the old saying, you get what you pay for, is very true in this instance. As discussed above, quality is very important, including testing and proper farming and extraction procedures, those brands that skimp in this area may be able to offer a cheaper product, but it will probably not be very effective.

FDA guidance

Right now the Food and Drug Administration has not approved CBD to treat, prevent, cure, or diagnose any disease and does not have a recommended daily intake or recommended daily serving size for CBD oil. CBD is not considered a medication except for the CBD drug Epidiolox, which is considered prescription medications for Dravet Syndrome and Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. These are both forms of pediatric epilepsy.

CBD Strength Questions

While the motto in the CBD world is to start slow and grow, we encourage our clients to start at a medium strength dose, the 1000mg. We feel this is a good option as it is allows experimentation with serving size, but also minimizes the chance of not taking enough in each single serving. If you still have questions regarding what CBD potency to start with, please give us a call at 855-725-6223, and our knowledgable sales team can help you determine which strength to choose.
