Top 5 CBD FAQ's

1. What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. CBD is one of many various molecules found in hemp, both the cannabis sativa plant, and the marijuana plant. Generally hemp derived CBD products are sourced from the cannabis sativa plant due to the low concentration of delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Hemp and marijuana both contain CBD, usually the CBD content is very low in the cannabis plant, and much higher in the industrial hemp plant. CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis sativa plant by either CO2 extraction or ethanol alcohol.

2. What is the Endocannabinoid System?

CBD interacts directly with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is present in the human body. Mammals, including both people and pets, have an ECS. This ECS has a number of receptors that help regulate important bodily functions such as neurotransmitter and hormone secretion, temperature, metabolism, as well as controlling inflammation, to name only a few. CBD binds with the cannabinoid receptors in the ECS to help benefit the body by acting as a natural booster to the functions that the ECS is performing.

3. What is a CBD Tincture?

A CBD tincture is a preparation of CBD in a carrier oil, which can be olive oil, hemp seed oil, or coconut oil to name a few. Tinctures are administered under the tongue (sublingually), held for at least 90 seconds, then swallowed. Since tinctures are used sublingually, CBD is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the capillaries located in the mouth. CBD tinctures are very fast-acting, and an effective method for taking CBD.

4. Why Should I Choose CBD instead of Medical Marijuana?

Medical cannabis, also known as medical marijuana, is known for its intoxicating and euphoric effects. The main distinction is that medical cannabis contains higher levels of THC, the cannabinoid that causes the "get high" psychoactive effects. Medical cannabis has a very real possibility of creating an intoxicating sensation when consuming too much. CBD, on the other hand, is non psychoactive and not intoxicating because of the low levels of THC produced by the Hemp plant. Cannabis plants produce a cannabis oil, or hemp oil that is high in THC and low in CBD.

5. How Frequently Can I Take CBD?

CBD can be taken every day, at multiple times throughout the day, or at particular times of the day if you prefer. Everyone is unique and the CBD amount, and CBD frequency in which used can vary depending on your height, weight, metabolism, health condition you are addressing.

6. Will I fail a drug test if I use CBD?

The answer is yes, possibly, depending on the type of CBD and the type of drug test. Most drug tests are testing for the THC compound, not the cannabidiol compound, if your CBD product is THC Free you will not fail the test. Some tests however test for cannabis, or all cannabinoids and that could lead to a positive test. Additionally, if you are using a full spectrum CBD product, that product will contain trace amounts of THC. Federal law determines that  industrial hemp products must contain less than 0.3 THC to be sold over the counter. The THC content in a full spectrum hemp derived CBD product may cause a positive result.

7. What is the Entourage effect?

When CBD works together with the other cannabinoids in hemp extract they work to synergistically improve the others functioning and heighten the overall effectiveness of the CBD products. Both full spectrum CBD and broad spectrum CBD oils contain multiple cannabinoids, naturally occurring terpenes, and flavonoids and will produce the entourage effect. A CBD isolate will only contain the CBD cannabinoid, and does not produce the entourage effect. Make sure to confirm the type of CBD oil you are getting before using it.
